Cavity number

Literally it refers to the number of the mold cavity ; the total number of the parts will come out after the mold is open.

Single cavity and multi-cavity

Based on the number, there are single cavity and multi-cavity. Below diagrams will give you some basic idea.

Single cavity: Cavity 1×1
=1 part
when the mold is open

Multi-cavity: Cavity 1×2
=2 identical parts
when the mold is open

Multi-cavity: Cavity 1+1+1+1
=4 different parts
when the mold is open

In our DFM report, we submit our suggestion on mold layout regarding the cavity number. You will need to confirm it before tooling.
