Overmolding

Overmolding is also spelled as Over molding, which is a molding process when a flexible material is molded onto a more rigid material called a substrate.

Types of Overmolding

Depending on materials to over, there are 2 types of overmolding.

Insert Molding

Insert molding involves molding plastic around a core or “insert”. Most often, the insert is a metal object, such as brass nut, screw, bushing, mesh filter, electrical plug component or others. See more details.

Double Shot Molding/ Co-Molding

Co-molding refers two plastic materials to bond, which usually are a hard material like ABS, PC and a soft material like TPE, TPU. See more details.
